Are the certificates authentic?

Yes, all of the certificates we sell are authentic stock and bond certificates unless otherwise mentioned in the description. At one point in time, this certificate represented a share of of the company, or a bond receipt. These certificates have been removed from circulation and digitalized, as seen by cancellation holes, stamps and writing on the certificate. We offer these certificates as a collectable item, not a security.

Your choice of three colors of a J.I. Case Company Bond Certificate from the 1960s/70s. Cancellation holes present.

The J.I. Case Company, founded in 1842 by Jerome Increase Case, has a rich history spanning over 180 years in the agricultural and construction equipment industry. Initially established as the Racine Threshing Machine Works in Racine, Wisconsin, the company began by producing innovative threshing machines that could process wheat much faster than traditional manual methods.

It expanded into steam engines in 1869 and became the world's largest manufacturer of steam engines by 1886. In 1892, Case produced the first diesel-powered tractor, and by the early 1900s, it had developed a complete line of road-building equipment.

In 1928, it was reincorporated as the J.I. Case Company. Tenneco purchased Case in 1967 and continued to market products under the Case name. In 1972, Case acquired British tractor builder David Brown Ltd. A significant merger occurred in 1984 when Tenneco bought International Harvester's agricultural equipment division and merged it with Case, creating the Case IH brand.

In 1994, Tenneco divested Case as Case Equipment Corporation, which later became Case Corporation. In 1999, Case merged with New Holland Agriculture to form CNH Global, a division of the Fiat Group.Today, the Case name continues in two CNH brands: Case CE (Construction Equipment), which is the world's third-largest brand of construction equipment, and Case IH, the world's second-largest brand of agricultural equipment.

As of 2025, Case IH operates as part of CNH Global, producing a full line of agricultural machinery under legendary names such as Farmall, Magnum, Axial-Flow, Steiger, and Quadtrac

Materials and care

Here are some quick tips to preserve your certificate for decades to come.

Paper quality: Stock certificates were printed on a variety of certificate paper dating back to the mid 1800s. Most of these vintage collectable certificates have signs of used & wear , cancellation holes, pencil / pen writing, stamps, staples, adhesives, slight rips, missing coupons and other features.

Handling: Always handle the certificate with clean, dry hands or use cotton gloves to avoid transferring oils and dirt from your skin onto the paper.

Storage: Store the certificate in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading. Use acid-free folders or archival-quality plastic sleeves to protect it from moisture, dust, and physical damage.

Framing: If displaying the certificate, use a frame with UV-protective glass to prevent light damage. Ensure the certificate is mounted using acid-free materials to avoid any chemical reactions that could degrade the paper over time.

Avoid Exposure: Keep the certificate away from direct sun, extreme temperatures and humidity, which can cause the paper to warp or deteriorate. Avoid exposing it to pollutants, such as smoke or chemicals, which can cause discoloration.
