This is an unissued stock certificate from The Brokers' Gold Mining Company, dated 1890s from Colorado. Featuring an oval vignette of a miner with prospecting tools, surrounded by elaborate ornate borders.
The Brokers' Gold Mining Company operated during Colorado's second great mining boom, when the state's gold fields were being systematically developed by professional mining syndicates rather than individual prospectors. Founded in the early 1900s when Colorado was producing over $20 million in gold annually, the company emerged during an era when mining had evolved from the pick-and-pan days of the 1859 Pikes Peak Gold Rush into sophisticated industrial operations.
