This is an original stock certificate from General Foods Corporation, dated 1961, printed in green. It was issued to trustees managing the estate of John D. Rockefeller Sr., the Standard Oil founder and one of the wealthiest individuals in American history. The three trustees named, John D. Rockefeller 3rd, Winthrop W. Aldrich, and J. Richardson Dilworth, held these shares on behalf of the Rockefeller family estate, creating a direct link between one of America's greatest industrial fortunes and one of its most recognizable consumer brands.
The center vignette features two allegorical female figures flanking a shield bearing the intertwined 'GF' monogram, with a cornucopia of agricultural produce overflowing below them. American Bank Note Company engraved and printed this piece.
The certificate shows light fold lines and was cancelled with punch holes on both front and back, including a cluster pattern on the reverse forming the date notation. The paper remains clean with good impression quality. Offered as a collectible.
General Foods Corporation was one of America's most dominant packaged food conglomerates, formed in 1929 through the merger of Postum Company and the Jell-O Company. By 1961, when this certificate was issued, the company controlled a portfolio of legendary brands: Maxwell House Coffee, Birds Eye frozen foods, Jell-O, Post cereals, Baker's Chocolate, and Kool-Aid, among dozens of others. Charles G. Mortimer, whose printed signature appears as Chairman, was instrumental in steering General Foods through the postwar boom, particularly through innovative advertising and brand-building strategies that made these products household staples.
General Foods remained independent until 1985, when Philip Morris Companies acquired it in a landmark $5.75 billion transaction.
Rockefeller family estate certificates are highly sought by collectors of both financial history and American business heritage, particularly those documenting the trustees' stewardship of one of history's largest personal fortunes.

Framing: If displaying the certificate, use a frame with UV-protective glass to prevent light damage. Ensure the certificate is mounted using acid-free materials to avoid any chemical reactions that could degrade the paper over time.
Avoid Exposure: Keep the certificate away from direct sun, extreme temperatures and humidity, which can cause the paper to warp or deteriorate. Avoid exposing it to pollutants, such as smoke or chemicals, which can cause discoloration.
