This is an original Stock Certificate from the Houdini Picture Corporation, dated the September 20th 1921 that was has signed by Harry Houdini as the president! Printed on brown paper in black ink, the certificate features an American eagle with spread wings, it was issued.

The Houdini Picture Corporation was established in New York during the golden age of silent cinema, when Harry Houdini, the world's most famous escape artist and magician, ventured into motion pictures. Houdini founded the company to produce and distribute films showcasing his death-defying stunts and magical performances, capitalizing on his international fame. Based in New York's burgeoning entertainment district, the corporation operated during the city's rise as America's entertainment capital, competing with studios in Hollywood and Fort Lee, New Jersey. The company produced several serials and feature films including "The Master Mystery" and "The Grim Game," where Houdini performed his own dangerous stunts. The certificate is signed by Harry H. Copp as Secretary & Treasurer. Following Houdini's unexpected death in 1926, the corporation dissolved, making these certificates a finite remnant of the magician's brief but ambitious foray into cinema.

This piece represents a unique intersection of early Hollywood history and the golden age of stage magic. Offered as a collectible.

Materials and care

Here are some quick tips to preserve your certificate for decades to come.

Paper quality: Stock certificates were printed on a variety of certificate paper dating back to the mid 1800s. Most of these vintage collectable certificates have signs of used & wear , cancellation holes, pencil / pen writing, stamps, staples, adhesives, slight rips, missing coupons and other features.

Handling: Always handle the certificate with clean, dry hands or use cotton gloves to avoid transferring oils and dirt from your skin onto the paper.

Storage: Store the certificate in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading. Use acid-free folders or archival-quality plastic sleeves to protect it from moisture, dust, and physical damage.

Framing: If displaying the certificate, use a frame with UV-protective glass to prevent light damage. Ensure the certificate is mounted using acid-free materials to avoid any chemical reactions that could degrade the paper over time.
