Are the certificates authentic?

Yes, all of the certificates we sell are authentic stock and bond certificates unless otherwise mentioned in the description. At one point in time, this certificate represented a share of of the company, or a bond receipt. These certificates have been removed from circulation and digitalized, as seen by cancellation holes, stamps and writing on the certificate. We offer these certificates as a collectable item, not a security.

This is an original stock certificate from Stade-Vélodrome de la Ville de Nice, dated 1926. Printed on white paper in blue ink, the certificate features two classical athletic, a muscular male cyclist standing beside his bicycle and a female athlete holding a medicine ball. The design includes an ornate Art Nouveau border with scrollwork and floral motifs, complemented by 25 attached dividend coupons.

The Stade-Vélodrome de la Ville de Nice represented the sporting ambitions of Nice during the height of the French Riviera's golden age as Europe's premier winter resort destination. Founded in the mid-1920s when Nice was experiencing unprecedented growth as a playground for international aristocracy and wealthy Americans, this cycling stadium and sports venue capitalized on the era's fascination with athletic competition and outdoor recreation. The company emerged during Nice's transformation from a sleepy fishing village into the crown jewel of the Côte d'Azur, when the city was attracting figures like the Duke of Windsor, Russian nobility fleeing the revolution, and American millionaires escaping Prohibition. The stadium would have served the growing community of cycling enthusiasts who flocked to the Mediterranean climate for year-round training, part of the broader infrastructure boom that included the famous Promenade des Anglais expansion and luxury hotel construction that defined 1920s Nice.

You will receive a certificate similar to the one shown. While each piece shares the same design and era, slight variations in serial numbers, signatures, and natural aging may occur. This example shows period character with age toning and edge wear, and includes red circular cancellation stamps across the dividend coupons, indicating the certificate was actively traded and redeemed.

French sporting venue certificates from the 1920s represent a fascinating intersection of the era's athletic enthusiasm and the Riviera's luxury tourism boom. This piece captures Nice at its Jazz Age zenith, when the city embodied European sophistication and sporting elegance. Offered as a collectible.

Materials and care

Here are some quick tips to preserve your certificate for decades to come.

Most of these vintage collectable certificates have signs of used & wear , cancellation holes, pencil / pen writing, stamps, staples, adhesives, slight rips, missing coupons and other features.
