Are the certificates authentic?

Yes, all of the certificates we sell are authentic stock and bond certificates unless otherwise mentioned in the description. At one point in time, this certificate represented a share of of the company, or a bond receipt. These certificates have been removed from circulation and digitalized, as seen by cancellation holes, stamps and writing on the certificate. We offer these certificates as a collectable item, not a security.

This is an original stock certificate from The Fisher Body Ohio Company, dated 1925. Printed in orange, it features a vignette with a winged female figure representing victory at center, flanked by seated figures symbolizing industry and commerce. It was signed by founder, Frederick J. Fisher.

You will receive the exact piece shown. As with all antique documents, time has given this certificate its own character — a genuinely one-of-a-kind artifact from 1925. The certificate shows multiple punch holes through the face, indicating it was properly cancelled when redeemed or retired from circulation.

In 1925, Detroit was the undisputed center of American automotive manufacturing, and Fisher Body Corporation stood as one of the industry's most crucial suppliers. Founded by the seven Fisher brothers in 1908, the company revolutionized automobile body construction by moving from wood to steel, becoming the exclusive body supplier for General Motors. The Fisher Body Ohio Company represented part of the brothers' national expansion strategy, establishing manufacturing facilities across the Midwest to serve the booming auto industry. Alfred J. Fisher and his brothers had built their empire by understanding that as cars became mass-produced, standardized steel bodies would replace the custom coachwork of the horse-and-buggy era. By 1925, Fisher Body was producing bodies for Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, and Cadillac, making it an essential cog in GM's manufacturing machine that would eventually lead to full acquisition by General Motors in 1926.

Automotive industry certificates from the 1920s represent the golden age of American manufacturing innovation, when Detroit's industrial might reshaped the global economy. This cancelled certificate documents a pivotal moment when independent suppliers were being absorbed into the emerging automotive giants. Offered as a collectible.

Materials and care

Here are some quick tips to preserve your certificate for decades to come.

Paper quality: Stock certificates were printed on a variety of certificate paper dating back to the mid 1800s. Most of these vintage collectable certificates have signs of used & wear , cancellation holes, pencil / pen writing, stamps, staples, adhesives, slight rips, missing coupons and other features.

Handling: Always handle the certificate with clean, dry hands or use cotton gloves to avoid transferring oils and dirt from your skin onto the paper.

Storage: Store the certificate in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading. Use acid-free folders or archival-quality plastic sleeves to protect it from moisture, dust, and physical damage.

Framing: If displaying the certificate, use a frame with UV-protective glass to prevent light damage. Ensure the certificate is mounted using acid-free materials to avoid any chemical reactions that could degrade the paper over time.

Avoid Exposure: Keep the certificate away from direct sun, extreme temperatures and humidity, which can cause the paper to warp or deteriorate. Avoid exposing it to pollutants, such as smoke or chemicals, which can cause discoloration.
