This is an original stock certificate from The National Cash Register Company, dated 1974. Printed in navy blue ink, the certificate features a central medallion containing the company name flanked by allegorical figures representing commerce and industry.
You will receive a certificate from this same issue. Each piece shares the design and era, with natural variations in serial numbers and aging that make every example unique. This example is cancelled with multiple punch holes through the certificate face, indicating it was properly redeemed or retired from active trading.
Founded in 1884 in Dayton, Ohio, by John Henry Patterson, The National Cash Register Company revolutionized American retail by making the cash register an indispensable business tool. Patterson, known as one of America's pioneering sales innovators, built NCR into a global powerhouse through aggressive marketing and systematic sales training programs that became the template for modern corporate sales forces. By 1974, when this certificate was issued, the company had evolved far beyond cash registers into computer systems and data processing equipment under the leadership of President William S. Anderson, whose facsimile signature appears on this certificate. NCR's transformation during the 1970s positioned it as a major player in the emerging computer industry, competing directly with IBM in business machines and early computing systems before eventually being acquired by AT&T in 1991.

Paper quality: Stock certificates were printed on a variety of certificate paper dating back to the mid 1800s. Most of these vintage collectable certificates have signs of used & wear , cancellation holes, pencil / pen writing, stamps, staples, adhesives, slight rips, missing coupons and other features.
Handling: Always handle the certificate with clean, dry hands or use cotton gloves to avoid transferring oils and dirt from your skin onto the paper.
Storage: Store the certificate in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading. Use acid-free folders or archival-quality plastic sleeves to protect it from moisture, dust, and physical damage.
Framing: If displaying the certificate, use a frame with UV-protective glass to prevent light damage. Ensure the certificate is mounted using acid-free materials to avoid any chemical reactions that could degrade the paper over time.
Avoid Exposure: Keep the certificate away from direct sun, extreme temperatures and humidity, which can cause the paper to warp or deteriorate. Avoid exposing it to pollutants, such as smoke or chemicals, which can cause discoloration.
