This is an original stock certificates - issued and unissued from The People's National Bank of Laconia, dated December 11, 1956. Printed in black, the certificate features a vignette of a steam locomotive with passenger cars traveling through a rural landscape with industrial buildings in the background. The design includes an ornate decorative border with geometric patterns and corner flourishes.

The People's National Bank of Laconia served this scenic resort area, where summer visitors from Boston and New York had long flocked to Lake Winnipesaukee's shores. Leon A. Perley served as the bank's president during this period, overseeing operations alongside cashier Frank Seal, both of whom signed this certificate by hand. The certificate was issued to the Imogene F. Cooke Estate, reflecting the era's transition as the Greatest Generation began passing wealth to their heirs. Laconia itself was thriving as both a manufacturing center, home to the Laconia Car Company's railroad shops, and a tourist destination, creating a diverse economic base that supported institutions like The People's National Bank.
