This is a rare, one of a kind, original stock certificate issued to and signed by the infamous financier Bernard (Bernie) L. Madoff from U-Tec Institute, Inc., dated 1973, printed in orange-red. His signature appears on the reverse, which was authenticated in 2026 by Pass-Co. You will receive the accompanying certificate of authenticity with your purchase.

When this certificate was issued on June 15, 1973, Bernard L. Madoff was a rising force in American finance. A trader, market maker, and technology pioneer, he had founded Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC in 1960 and would go on to chair the Nasdaq stock exchange. He helped build the modern electronic market. Regulators consulted him. Institutions trusted him. Few figures in the industry carried more credibility.

In December 2008, Madoff's arrest exposed the largest Ponzi scheme in history, an estimated $65 billion fraud that devastated thousands of investors. He was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison and died in custody in 2021. The pillar of the securities industry stood revealed as history's most prolific financial criminal.

The certificate is in Very Fine VF condition. Offered as a one of a kind collectible. Printed by Hasbrouck, Thistle & Co., Inc. of New York.

Bernard L. Madoff was a respected figure in American finance, a trader, market maker, and technology pioneer who had co-founded Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC in 1960.

This certificate documents him as a shareholder in U-Tec Institute, Inc., a New York corporation incorporated in 1968, at a moment when his reputation remained unblemished. It would take decades before the full scope of his criminality emerged: in December 2008, Madoff's arrest revealed the largest Ponzi scheme in history, defrauding thousands of investors of an estimated $65 billion. He was sentenced to 150 years in federal prison and died in custody in 2021. This certificate is a historical artifact of pre-scandal Madoff.

The piece offers collectors a tangible connection to one of the most shocking reversals in financial history, where the securities industry stood revealed as history's most prolific financial criminal.

Stock certificates issued to notable or notorious individuals, particularly those whose lives took dramatic turns or became pivotal to major historical events are sought by collectors interested in the human dimension of financial history.

Madoff-related documents, in particular, have become artifacts of intense historical interest since his arrest and conviction, making this certificate a compelling piece for those studying the rise and catastrophic fall of modern financial fraud.
